Over the past several years, Dr. Meisterjahn has provided mental skills training services for basketball players at all levels, including the NCAA Division-I, FIBA, and the NBA. Specifically, he has assisted players in building mental toughness, increasing focus, improving communication, etc. In 2011, Rainer conducted a series of interviews with NBA (e.g., Jermaine O’Neal, Chuck Hayes) and international players (e.g., Tremmell Darden, Rodrigo De La Fuente) at Impact Basketball in Las Vegas to inquire about players’ perceptions of mental challenges at the professional level and their utilization of mental skills. In addition to his work off the court, Dr. Meisterjahn has designed and implemented on-court skills workouts for players such as Tobias Harris (Milwaukee Bucks) and Chris Lofton (former University of Tennessee All-American) and assisted with numerous NBA player workouts (e.g., John Wall, Jermaine O’Neal, Austin Daye). Thus, he was able to develop a keen understanding of the mental skills required for optimal skill utilization on the court.
